Irgendwie mag ich den Track, irgendwie aber auch absolut gar nicht. Ihr merkt, ich bin mir noch nicht sicher. <br><br>Die Produktion finde ich, wie meistens bei Will.i.am, richtig gut. Den Text kann ich aber beim besten Willen nicht ernst nehmen. Es ist das erste Mal, dass mir beim 1. Hören schon auffällt, dass der Text einfach nur hohl ist. Das ist mir vorher noch NIE passiert, da ich mich meistens eher auf die Musik konzentriere.<br><br>"The girls wanna play with boys<br>And the boys wanna play with girls<br>And the girls wanna play with girls<br>Boys wanna play with boys"<br><br>Das kann man nicht überhören. So schlecht, das hätte ja wirklich JEDER schreiben können. Verstehe aber dass das Pia Mia singt. Jede Andere hätte da nein gesagt.<br><br>Eben, irgendwie cool, irgendwie einfach nur doof. Trotzdem sind 4.5*, welche ich wegen dem grottenschlechten Text abrunde. 4*

The beat in the intro has me interested for a few seconds, but then the singing starts and it never comes back from there.<br><br>It appears that, lyrically, will.i.am remains as worthless as ever, not that that is any big news. But lines like "three chicks, got two, four, six tits" are worthy of a face-palm response every time.<br><br>As for Pia Mia, well, she's on the song, I suppose. Not much more to say really, except that in the music video it appears she is trying to make what she is saying sound cool, but something as simple as "the girls wanna play with boys/ And the boys wanna play with girls" most certainly does not sound cool.<br><br>I'm feeling a little nice today, though, because I can at least say that will.i.am still has far worse songs, and that, maybe, just maybe, I could enjoy this in the right environment.<br><br>2.5* |

Ever since my first listen of this I had a suspicion that the chorus was (whether intentionally or not) promoting bisexuality! Turns out it is a recognition of more than just heterosexual activity in the club. If I were cynical I could say that the inclusion of those lyrics is tokenism, but I'm not gonna be cynical. Fight heteronormativity! It's a nice gesture :) Sure there's some cringe lyrics, but that's to be expected with Will.I.Am at this point. The chorus and post-chorus are catchy, and the beat is arguably even catchier. I know it sounds ridiculous but I wish Australia had embraced this more, it's better than a lot of 2016 ARIA hits. |
